So people have it a little backwards, last year Gesicki actually only scored 40% snap rate, losing the starting job early to Erick All before the ACL tear, and only had ~70% snap rate twice, cracking 50% 6/17 games. Drew Sample actually led the TEs with 56% snap rate but was never really targeted since he’s primarily there to block….not saying Fant is any better than these two but his chance of becoming a fixture in at least blocking is very possible, and if Fant can prove to do both well enough without having to lineup two TEs and instead slotting Iosivas… legitimate outside shot at TE1. I would say currently though Gesicki is still the pure 1 based on the money they gave him, Fant would have to perform.
