Phillips secured a significant role as a rookie last season, starting six of the 14 games in which he played and logging at least two-thirds of the defensive snaps on 11 occasions. The Kentucky product finished with 71 tackles, including 1.0 sacks, two forced fumbles and one interception while mostly manning the slot. Phillips didn't get much fanfare, but his 78.5 overall PFF grade ranked 13th among CBs, so he earned himself a key role in the Giants secondary entering his sophomore campaign.
