The 49ers took Moody with the 99th overall pick in the 2023 Draft and have stuck with him so far through two rocky seasons. His rookie year was statistically solid and included a game-tying, 53-yard field goal late in the Super Bowl, but there were also prominent misses late in games and then throughout the playoffs. Moody's second season went even worse, featuring 10 missed field goals (on 34 tries) even though he missed four weeks with an ankle injury. The 49ers signed Greg Joseph in May to compete for the placekicking job, but they then released him in early August, likely setting up Moody for one final chance to live up to his draft capital.
